Photographed by Paola Kudacki and styled by Simon Robins, Ava rocks beautiful yarn dreads and an elegant white Calvin Klein number on the cover of Elle magazines ‘Women In Hollywood’ issue. Inside, she talks about all her latest projects including a film distribution company called ARRAY she is setting up to help get more films made by women and people of colour into theatres.
About the venture she says “There’s a generation of filmmakers of colour and women whose primary concern is that no one will see their work… and that is a huge barrier. They’re asking, ‘Why make something if no one will see it?”
From Viola Davis’ win at the Emmys, To Amma Asante’s critically acclaimed work on the movie Belle, black women are making waves in the world of entertainment and climbing up the power rungs. You’ve been given a valid reason to go by Elle this month, so make sure to go grab a copy.
